this is a problem that every person in the pentagon is taking very seriously. none more so than the leadership of the army. we have made huge steps in dealing with the posttraumatic stress issue. we have put enormous resources into it, done an enormous amount of educational activity to try to -- virtually every soldier in the army has been exposed to training on how to recognize the symptoms of post-traumatic stress, building the but the principle of looking out to see if your buddy is demonstrating this, educating families so they can recognize the symptoms, creating capabilities for treatment for these people. we've done a lot to try to remove the stigma of recording -- reporting. i think making progress for people seeking help and i think we're making significant progress in those areas. the truth of the matter is i believe the suicides are a reflection of the stress on the force. and we will do everything in our power to try to have commanders andnco's an nco's and others recognize distress. the solution to this problem is where our soldiers have more time
